The system also offers a URL-shortener to shorten a URL that can be distributed easily or that can be used to generate a QR code. The lesser the amount of characters in the URL, the cleaner the QR code will be.
When the last barcode is printed, the chance is small that errors occur when it is scanned by a QR reader.
The costs for generating a shortened URL when creating a payment are included in the price per payment. If you want to use the URL shortener up front to shorten your own URLs, the API must be enabled in your account and a pay-per-use policy could be used.
The connection to the URL shortener API is a secure connection that is protected by IP address (optional), an Extended Validation SSL certificate and a username and password combination that must be supplied as ‘basic authentication’ header.
To create a connection, the following things must be arranged:
|IP Address||The IP address(es) of the server that connects to the PayByLink system must be supplied to the PayByLink or Entity administrator. He can enter these addresses in the system so that connections that are created form other IP addresses will be refused.|
|An API user must be created within the PayByLink system with its own unique username and corresponding password. These values must be used to create a secure connection.|
